FAQ

How can I check if a post can be embedded?

To embed a post, first check if the post is public by hovering over the audience selector (you'll see a globe icon):
If the post has any other type of privacy setting, it will not be embeddable.

What should I expect to be shown in the Embedded Post?

The embedded post will show any media attached to it, as well as the number of likes, shares, and comments that the post has. Embedding posts will let people using your web site see the same rich information that is shown on Facebook.com, and they will enable people to follow or like content authors or Pages directly from the embed.

Is there a way to get the embed code while looking at a post?

You can also get the embed code directly from the post itself. If the post is public, click on the icon that appears in the top right corner of the post on Facebook:
Choose 'Embed Post' from the drop down menu that appears. You will see a dialog appear with the code to embed your post in it:
Copy and paste this code into your web page in the place where you want it to appear.
The code in the Embedded Post dialog includes a snippet which inserts the Facebook SDK for JavaScript into your web page. If you already include this snippet elsewhere on your page, you can remove it if you wish, although it will not cause any issues if included twice.

If I embed a post and the author then deletes the post or changes the post audience selector from public, what will happen to my embed?

The following message will display in place of the embedded post:

Can I customize how the post is displayed on my web page?

Currently, you cannot customize how Embedded Posts are displayed on your page. The size of the post is fixed to the same dimensions as it's shown on Facebook.

If I embed a very long post, will it get truncated?

Yes the post will get truncated with a "see more" option. Clicking "see more" will display the full post on your web page.
